The Murphysboro Apple Festival is Southern Illinois longest running family festival, featuring the largest parade in our region! This family-oriented event is a time-honored tradition, synonymous with Murphysboro's good name. A few of the many events during the festival include arts & crafts and live entertainment. There is a Kids' Free Fair with free games and activities for children. The Senior Day component features exhibitors and information from businesses and organizations catering to Senior Citizens. The 4-H and Farm Bureau Demonstrations focuses on area Apple Orchards, their history, and how the apples get from the tree to your table. Also featured are Drums at Appletime, a high school marching band competition, the Miss Apple Festival Queen Pageant, and the Festival Funland with carnival rides, concessions, and a midway.
