Camping in the Upper Delta Region

The Upper Delta region of the Middle Mississippi River Valley offers campers a large number of choices of camping options. The area features a number of state parks plus several private RV parks and campgrounds.

Craighead Forest Park

The campground at Craighead Forest Park offers visitors a home-away-from-home atmosphere with rustic surroundings. The park has 26 tree-shaded asphalt pads equipped with water, electrical outlets, picnic tables, fire rings, and grills, great for RV Camping. There are also five tent campsites right on the edge of the lake, as well as a primitive camping area.  A central bathhouse is also located near the campgrounds. Barrier free sites are available and pets are welcome if properly leashed.

Crowley's Ridge State Park has 18 RV/tent sites with water & electrical hook-ups and 8 tent only sites all in a wooded area. Crowley's Ridge State Park sits atop a unique land form of forested hills in Eastern Arkansas called Crowley's Ridge, this park offers a swimming lake, fishing lake and hiking trails. The campgrounds offers restrooms, hot showers, dump station, picnic sites, pavilions, hiking trails, snack bar, swimming area, fishing boat, canoe and pedal boat rentals (electric motors only on fishing lake), playground, swimming pool. Pets are accepted if leashed.

This rustic campground has 32 campsites and is designed primarily for tent camping. None of the sites are equipped for RVs. There are no electrical or water hook-ups. Tent camp sites will accommodate small popups and RVs may park in front of the site. There are 2 bathhouses (one being barrier free). Back country camping is allowed only at the designated site located on the Blue Chickasaw Bluff Trail. A permit is required for the site.

Lake Frierson State Park

Lake Frierson State Park’s facilities include campsites [four Class C with water and electric hookups and three Class D (no hookups)] with tables and grills, and restrooms. The park features an enclosed climate-controlled pavilion, playground, self-guided trail, launch ramp, barrier-free fishing pier, and visitor center with interpretive exhibits. The park also offers rental fishing boats, kayaks, and pedal boats.

Lake Poinsett State Park

Lake Poinsett State Park is situated on the northern end of this Arkansas Game and Fish Commission lake and offers 29 campsites (four Class A, 22 Class B and three Class D), picnic areas, a standard pavilion (screened with restrooms), boat launch ramp, and boat rentals. A children's playground is located between the picnic area and campground. For hiking enthusiasts, the 1.1-mile Great Blue Heron Trail can be enjoyed in a leisurely 45-minute hike.

Reelfoot Lake State Park

Located on a great fishing lake, Reelfoot Lake State Park operates two campgrounds on Reelfoot Lake. All sites have 30 amp electric service, water, picnic tables and grills. Both campgrounds have a small number of primitive sites with water accessible and some with picnic tables only. The site features a boat ramp, a fish cleaning house, and two bathhouses. Privately owned bait shops and boat rentals are nearby.

Village Creek State Park's campground includes 96 campsites [24 Class AAA, five Class A, and 67 Class B sites (for RVs, tents, and horse campers)] around Lake Dunn. The park offers hiking and fishing opportunities. Horseback riding is a popular activity at this park with twenty-five miles of multi-use trails open throughout the year. Call the park for current trail conditions. The horse camp features 30 campsites with water and electric hookups and 66 stalls.
