There are a number of options for visitors to the area with two state parks in the region and a number of private campgrounds. Camping options in the northern section of the Meeting of the Great Rivers Scenic Byway area is limited to Pere Marquette State Park, but the Park (the largest in the state of Illinois) accommodates all types of campers.

Pere Marquette has an 80 site Class A campground that can accommodate RVs as well as traditional campers. In addition there are two Rent-A-Camp cabins and two handicap accessible sites. Amenities at this campground include electrical hookups, sanitary dump stations and drinking water. A shower building is available on the grounds. The Class B campground, which is for tents only, has access to a shower building.
Horseshoe Lake State Park

Horseshoe Lake State Park is located on Highway 111 in southern Madison County, Illinois. The main feature of the park is its 1800-plus acre oxbow lake which is a popular spot for fishing.
McCully Heritage Project

Located about 1 mile south of the Kampsville Free Ferry off of the Great River Road, the Project consists of 940 acres encompassing woodlands, prairie, wetlands, and agricultural land. With over 15 miles of hiking trails traveling through this diverse terrain, the area is truly a hiker’s delight. Primitive campsites are available. These sites include a fire ring and a picnic table and are suitable for one to two tents. Pit toilet restrooms are available. Group camping is also allowed. Please call ahead to make arrangements and check availability. A donation is requested for all camping activities.
