The Alton Symphony Orchestra finishes its season with a concert that will put you in the dancing mood! Featuring works like Orpheus in the Underworld, Bacchanale, and Le Tombeau de Couperin (Ravel).
The Alton Symphony Orchestra is a community orchestra founded in 1946, consisting of professional and volunteer musicians. ASO’s concert season includes four subscription concerts, three children’s concerts for the area’s 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders and a special holiday concert for the entire family. ASO is considered a premier orchestra in southern Illinois, often featuring local and world renowned music ensembles and soloists. The orchestra’s music director/ conductor is Maestro Shane Williams whose charismatic presence brings to life a creative musical vision of composers and styles.
