First observed after the end of the Civil War, Memorial honors the memory of U. S. soldiers who have died in military service. Join local re-enactors (Civil War, Native American, and French & Indian) as they portray a timeline event at Fort D.

Thousands of motorcyclists travel to Bald Knob Mountain, Southern Illinois’ highest point and the site of the Bald Knob Cross of Peace located just outside of Alto Pass, about 10 miles south of Murphysboro on IL-127. Sponsored by the Christian Motorcycle Association, motorcycle riders are encouraged to bring their bikes to the cross as the official kickoff of the spring and summer riding season.

Shawnee Hills Pottery Trail is a once a year shared pottery experience. Everyone is invited to spend some time exploring the Southern Illinois landscape and the diverse group of potters that make this area home. Each potter will be available for answering questions and of course, showing their work. Some potters will have studio tours, while others may have special activities or demonstrations.
