Plein Air Painting Event

  • Various locations throughout the Sainte Genevieve, MO area Sainte Genevieve, MO United States (map)

Following the European tradition of capturing the atmosphere of the outdoors, contemporary artists are invited to join the realms of the famous regionalist artists of the 1930s by painting outdoors in the scenic Sainte Genevieve area. Contemporary painters will find the same French colonial buildings, Victorian commercial structures, and extensive gardens in the downtown historic district that intrigued the artists who founded the Sainte Genevieve Art Colony some 80 years ago. The rugged Mississippi shoreline, Midwestern farms, and remnants of old building sites still appeal. Seven picturesque wineries, Hawn State Park, Pickle Springs Nature Preserve, and other conservation areas are easily accessible by car. Among the highlights of this event organized by the Sainte Genevieve Art Guild are multiple paint outs & competitions, generous prizes, social events.

Paintings will be on display and for sale at the Ste. Genevieve Art Center Saturday evening 6 pm - 9 pm. Vote for your favorite painting and then see who won the big awards!

Fee for participating artists, free for the general public
