Church of the Immaculate Conception
Attractions include Bingo, Tractor and Truck Pull, children’s games, and the usual picnic attractions. The prizes for the wonderful raffle to be announced. The celebration also features live music, food and other refreshments, and the Church of the Immaculate Conception will be open for tours.

POPEYE'S PICNIC
Chester, IL
  September 10 - September 13, 2010
The annual Popeye's Picnic is always held the first weekend following Labor Day. As always the event starts on Friday afternoon and features plenty of food, music, dancing, sporting events and other contests. A parade is held on Saturday morning and a sizeable fireworks display is the finale on Sunday evening. The event is centered around the downtown area of Chester, but activities are held throughout the town.

CANNON SCHOOL

An instructional course for historical artillerymen. A certificate of safety will be issued to participants who pass the course. There will be a live firing competition.

APPLE FESTIVAL

Creole House

This festival sponsored by the Prairie du Rocher Chamber of Commerce features Apple Butter making, an Apple Pie Baking Contest, a Quilt Drawing, a petting zoo, and a refreshment stand with homemade Apple Butter and other apple treats of all kinds for sale. The Randolph County Historical Society will be on hand to conduct guided tours of the Creole House, a 19th century home with French American transitional architecture that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Kaskaskia Bell State Historic Site

This annual celebration takes place at the site of the Liberty Bell of the West, which was rung when
Rogers Clark and his Long Knives captured Kaskaskia on July 4, 1778. A ceremony starts at 12:30 with speakers and the French Colonial Marines from nearby Fort de Chartres. The celebration also features live music, food and other refreshments, and the Church of the Immaculate Conception will be open for tours.
