- 5 pm
Thursday: 11 am - 8 pm
Saturday: 10 am - 2 pm
Closed Sunday, Monday, and school holidays
Schmidt Art Center, Southwestern Illinois College
St.
Louis artist Jeff Sippel’s abstract prints that are extremely expressive in
color and line are featured in “Action Reaction.” In
“Letting go a breath I didn’t know I was holding” St. Louis artist Joe
Chesla filled 2,920 plastic bags with a mixture of porcelain and algae and
installed them directly on the Reiners Gallery windows allowing light and heat
to influence the algae’s growth and affect the color and pattern of the
installation. The Schmidt and Cox Galleries hosts New York City artist Jenny
Boudreault’s “Awakenings,” a series of portraits of everyday
people. Boudreault uses watercolor or oil paint on board, which often allows the
wood grain to show through and provide texture and tone to the skin.
