Bald Eagle Release
West Alton, Missouri
Riverlands Migratory Bird Sanctuary, West Alton, MO
Monday, September 3, 2018
The TreeHouse Wildlife Center will release a Bald Eagle at the
Audubon Center at the Riverlands in West Alton, Missouri on Labor
Day, September 3, 2018 at 2:00 pm. Dr. Paul Myer DVM and owner of
Hawthorne Animal Hospital in Glen Carbon, Illinois will have the
honor of releasing the eagle. Dr. Myer saved the eagle’s life by
performing surgery on its leg after being rescued and brought to the
TreeHouse in 2017. The Angel Fund covered the cost of the surgery.
In 2016, Hawthorne Animal Hospital created the Angel Fund to improve
the quality of life for animals. The fund is a 501c3 non-profit
managed by the Veterinary Care Foundation (VCF). Hawthorne pays a
fee to VCF, which allows 100% of donations made to go toward patient
care. Hawthorne utilizes the funds to support the community by
providing “cradle to grave” healthcare for six local canine officers
and supporting the TreeHouse Wildlife Center in rehabilitation
efforts like the eagle being released this Labor Day.
This is a free and public event. Please join us this Labor Day to
celebrate the return of a Bald Eagle to the wild.
