Description: The Upper Mississippi River is recognized as a Globally Important Bird Area and migratory flyway for birds. Over 300 species use the river as a migratory flyway during the spring migration. The Olin Nature Preserve with its limestone bluffs overlooking the Mississippi River, ravines, small streams, upland forest habitat, and loess hill prairie is a popular spot for both birds and birders during this time of the year. Join in on a walk to learn about, listen for, and record the many migrating songbirds on The Nature Institute property. Moderate walking - wear comfortable shoes. You may also want to bring binoculars, camera, journal and water.
