in the Meeting of the Great Rivers Scenic Byway Area

The scenic hills and bluffs of the region, along with the Illinois and Mississippi rivers help to create conditions that protect the peach and apple orchards of the area. Beginning in July when the first peaches appear until the last of the apples are harvested in October, the Meeting of the Great Rivers Scenic Byway area offers its visitors the opportunity to sample fresh fruit right off the tree or vine at local orchards and berry farms. When in the area keep your eyes open for signs that dot the roadside that will direct you to this seasonal bounty. Please note that not all fruit is available at each orchard and not all operations are pick your own. If you are looking for something in particular it might be wise to call ahead.
